Healthcare Assistants
Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and some routine immunisations. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
Practice Management
The Practice Manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The Practice Manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.
Administration
The practice employs a team of admin staff and receptionists to deal with your enquiries and requests as efficiently as possible whilst respecting your confidentiality at all times.
Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. Receptionists also perform other important tasks such as processing repeat prescriptions requests and dealing with prescription enquiries. Administration staff deal with insurance matters, financial claims, patient records, carry out searches and practice audits.
Community Nurses
The community team of nurses (district nurses) care for patients who need nursing at home. They are based at Amersham Hospital and employed by Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. Referrals to the service will be made by your GP where appropriate. Contact number: 01494 734724.
Health Visitors
There is a health visiting team which covers the practice. They have special responsibilities for mothers and children. Contact number: 01296 838000 (choose option 6, then choose option 4).
